Some of you may have seen the home standby generator that run of
bottle on N.G. GAS.

Some come with a automation transfer switch, and below, room for 6 or more
1" breakers.

My question is, if you disconnect the Service Conductor Cable from the
house existing main service panel, does the NEC code require you to
feed the Service into a disconnect switch, before entering the Service
Rated generator automation transfer switch.

Because if you don't install this switch, if you have to work on the
generator transfer switch, the only disconnect available to if pulling
the power company meter socket.

I had a senior license electrician tell me youdon't have to install an on/off
switch before the generator transfer.

Which could be a circuit breaker in single breaker enclosure.

What my point. Well if you have a disconnect that turn off the incoming
power, you can heard your back generator start, and then when its up
to speed, you can heard the transfer switch, switch over. After whick
you can test you loads that are now connect to generator, to so that
there is no excess load marking the generator work to hard to keep..

Yes it a long post. So fire away. I'm thick skin any ways. (humor)
