Disconnect line of sight requirement?

I've got a large number of (say 100) 480V 3hp fans mounted outdoors on a roof. I've got a lockable disconnect for each fan in an MCC at ground level inside. I can see why it would be a good idea to provide a disconnect means at each fan, but is there an actual requirement by code? If so, anyone know which one?
Question #2 - is there a code that says they must be automatically shut down upon a fire detection? By the way, the location is Nevada.

Re: Disconnect line of sight requirement?

See section 430.102(B) of the 2002 NEC. You may be able to use the exception to that section.

For question 2, not per the NEC.
