Disconnect next to gas meter

I want to know if you can put a disconnect for a hot tub next to a gas meter for a house. If you can does it matter how far away it needs to be. I was told that the electric meter needs to have 3 feet clearance from gas meter, but other electrical equiptment does not apply.
 
This is an existing house, and my inspector said there is an issue with this. He said to check article 500 and bulk storage section in code book. I can not find any thing.

Nothing in Article 500 or 515 (bulk storage plants) would apply to a home.
