I have a baler machine about 75 hp for the main drive. It has a large control panel on it which consists of all the motor control and in addition has a main disconnect. Do I have to provide additional disconnecting means or as long as the built in disconnect disconnects the input am I good to go. The industrial machine section doesnt specifically say one way or the other.

I see this all the time and wonder why every one want's to add a disconnect to a machine that already has a disconnect. I've even heard of local AHJ's that make the EC add one.

Even at my house, (before I bought it) the A/C compressor is right next to the electrical panel and they still put in a fuseable disconnect.

Not having seen your house, of course, maybe the panel was relocated, or maybe the compressor calls for fuses.

The panel is in it's original location, but you could be right about the fuses, I've never looked in to it to tell you the truth, but when I blew a fuse and went to verify that the right size was in it I found out that you can't read the name plate anyways.

Just as I started to post I realized that you're prpbably right, my house was built in the 60's and I don't think we started insalling HACR breakers until sometime in the late 70's or early 80's.

But I can tell you it's old, some of you guys have put in stand up meter sections that are smaller than my condensor. If any of you fly let me know and when I finally replace this thing I may have a spare prop for you.:D

The last paragraph of 430.102 allows a single disconnect to serve both the motor and the controller, so long as it is in sight from both. Since your disconnect is and the controller and the motor are all in the same place, this is within the rules.
