We have a customer that is installing unitary water source heat pump equipment, 460V, 3ph. They are installing this equipment along with a 460 X 240 1PH step down transformer. The load for this transformer is a fractional horsepower circulating pump. I would think that the transformer would have to be fused between the unit L1, L2 and the transformer. Does there have to be a seperate disconnect for the transformer and pump, or does the unit disconnect serve this purpose?

Re: Disconnect Requirements

Transformers require primary protection and anything after them requires protection. Without knowing the entire story, suggest that if not already done, the work is completed by a qualified electrician and inspected to ensure code compliance and safety.
