disconnect sizing

I have a multi moter/compressor chiller with a MCA of 383a. do i need to size the disconnect at 115% or will a 400a disconnect work. john

What is the MOCP of the chiller? Does it have a sindle point power feed?

It is a single point power the MOCP is 450, but i am going to try to get by with the existing 400a breaker feeding it. Even if i change to a 450a breaker can i still use the 400a disconnect?

Disconnect switches are horsepower rated therefore have a maximum locked-rotor capability. Don't forget to check the locked-rotor current rating of the chiller unit.
