Not too experienced here. Got this old disconnect (I think it's at least 50 years old) serving a furnace at 125 V. Going to install an air handler that needs 250 V.
Assuming I'm keeping this disconnect for a few months, can I just take the neutral wire and connect it to power at the distribution panel (this will give me 250 V).
Or is it not ok to do this? Do I need to replace the romex going from the disconnect to the main panel? Thank you.
