Is it permissable to install the disconnects for elevator motors, car lighting, ventilation, etc in the hoistway- where there is no separate machine room?

other than the readily accessible for disconnecting means, I think locations and such are governed by other codes (ANSI ?)

I thought it was only related service, that is allowed in the Lift.

Is this an Otis type Gen2 or a Shindler 400A Machine Room less? Where the area at the top of Hoistway would be a Machinery Space not intended for full bodily entry. Where are the controllers located and disconnects for the controllers? Just curious.

Greg- It is hard to tell from the plans- I will be asking for details. These are 2-story duplex dwelling units. The only information I have on the elevator at this point is that they show the disconnecting means for the motor, cab lights, etc in the hoistway on the first floor. I was wondering if this is at all permissable or if a separate "machine room" is required?
