Don I agree with your post, but what if they were not multi-wire branch circuits? I think identification of voltage system should not be required only on a multi-wire circuit. Just my two cents.

Ryan, there is a proposal for the 05 NEC for just what you stated.

And contrary to popular opinion, you can't use white for the grounded conductor of one system and gray for the second system when the conductors are in a common raceway or enclosure.
