Is there a specified distance between a generator fuel fill and an outlet/inlet? I have a generator in a enclosed, vented compartment where the fuel fill is on the outside of the compartment. I wanted to ensure that if I add an outlet for a battery tender that I am not locating the outlet too close.

We've mounted outlets for the charger and heater on the frame of the generator, Never questioned.
I don't think the NEC addresses it.

What type of fuel? Diesel is not flammable.

What I have learned with any hazardous location is to start with section 500.4
There is likely a drawing in the appropriate chapter for fuel fill clearances
