I assume this has been discussed many times over in this forum. I am trying to determine the proper spacing required between (2) 3000KVA Mineral Oil
filled transformers. These will be customer owned transformers as they are taking service @ 12470V. The NEC only offers 450.27 which is not much help. I have read numerous articles on the web and most relate back to the type of fluid and the quantity of fluid in the transfomer. These will have 594 gallons of oil each.
I found this on the web it says NEC but nothing I could find in the NEC (2014) relates to this chart. 1 Cubic Meter is equal to slightly more than 264 gallons.

Is the a catch pond below the transformers?
The last one I designed needed a fire wall between the transformers dues to the pit required by the DNR.

That chart appears to be from FM Global Property Loss Prevention Data Sheet 5-4. I think you can sign up on their site for free to read the latest version but here is an older version of the publication which shows a chart of distances between transformers and barriers to build if that can't be met. I google searched "ds 5-4" and the first link had the older copy. Didn't know if it was okay to link directly.

Thank You cyriousn. Just to note I also found 'official' info in NFPA section 850, Chapter 6 - 6.1.4 which is close to the FM chart you attached. The NFPA site has a great FREE VIEWER that lets you look at all NFPA code sections on line.
