Is there anywhere in the NEC that states there should be a minimum distance between a auxillary gutter installed above a panelboard and the panel itself. The gutter feeds the service conductors to the panelboards. Space is limited with the cellar ceiling being 6' 6''
Thanks,

Fran

NEC

"366.3 Extension Beyond Equipment. An auxiliary gutter shall not extend a greater distance than 9 m (30 ft) beyond the equipment that it supplements.

Exception: As permitted in 620.35 for elevators, an auxiliary gutter shall be permitted to extend a distance greater than 9 m (30 ft) beyond the equipment that it supplements.

Just enough room for locknuts or connectors. The important thing is that neither enclosure block being able to open the other.
