We were hired to hook up a mobile home. The Mobile home was placed 50' away from the existing disconnect. We ran a ground wire as well as a neutral and two power conductors, Set another disconnect to the side of the Mobile Home. We then ran from the second disconnect to the main breaker in the mobile home. We did not drive two ground rods at the second disconnect, since we pulled a grounding conductor. We did drive a second ground rod at the first disconnect, since it only had one. We are being told that the first and second disconnects are considered seperate buildings and require two ground rods at each location.

This may be a silly question, but why did you add the disconnect on the side of the home?

Another question, is this really a mobile home or a manufactured mome per the NEC.

Art.550.32- states the trailer--er--manufactored home--can not be more than 30 feet from the disconnect. In my state the pole of the first disconnect would be classed as a structure. Therefore you would have to use at least one rod and 2 if you can't meet the 25 ohm test. Art 250.32 says that you also have to drive at least one rod and maybe two at the manufactured home.
