Do I need NEMA 3R?

A disconnect, a control panel and a motor are being moved from inside the building to underneath a canopy outside the building.

Do the disconnect and control panel need to be replaced with devices in a NEMA 3R rated enclosures? Or does the canopy provide enough protection to make this unnecessary?

It kind of comes down to how well protected it is from the weather under the canopy.
