I was at a supply house this morning and the janitor(?) was cleaning the displays using soapy water and Windex on panel interiors. Really soaping them up then rinsing them using the Windex I know not where.

I have bought display equipment in the past (NEMA Size 3 starter), luckily I megger.

i bought a display model dryer once. only one i could afford at the time. good thing i bought the service plan because in 2 months the heating element in it broke and i ended up getting a new one for free from best buy.

I'll whip down the Gear with WD-40, and whip again, before energizing. At least that is oil based!

What is the Correct procedure ? ?

thanks for that tidbit of information. It's reassuring to know that our fleet of missles is being protected by men with cans of wd40. (that and the fact that the geniuses from Morton Thiokol are on the job make me sleep well at night)

Yeah 110.12(C) "Cleaners" is a "Key Word"

Did you guys read the Wikipedia info. I got a good laugh on the second use.

Specialty Uses

  • Leatherman, the manufacturer of the popular multi-tool of the same name, recommends WD-40 as a post-cleaning lubricant to displace water and prevent corrosion.[6]
  • WD-40 dissolves cocaine; when applied to surfaces in toilets, it prevents cocaine from being snorted off these surfaces.[7]
  • In Boston, officials repaired the bell atop city-owned Faneuil Hall with daily treatments of WD-40 over the course of a week.[8
