My Baskin-Robbins client had a ground pin break off on the plug for a waffle iron. Can I just put on a new cord cap, or do I need to replace the entire cord?

I don't THINK the NEC cares, but maybe another code? This is in Clark County, NV, but I would imagine we are doing whatever "normal" is for this.

The existing is just plugged into the wall socket, so I don't see any kind of "wash down" requirement. As it turns out, he called me today and said the waffle iron company warrantied the entire machine and he's just getting a new one instead.

Thanks, guys. I did impress myself by actually finding the Hubble plug I knew I had laying around somewhere.

What you will most likely find about this scenario is that the plug is always and without fail, yanked out of the receptacle by the cord using violent force. In the setting I work in, replacing a cord cap is quite futile. They will have the cord pulling out of the strain relief in a matter of weeks. It all depends on the culture present.

No doubt. Fortunately, the staff is small, and pretty much exclusively teenage girls. They are very teachable, and I'll bet they can be shown the why and the problem wouldn't repeat.
