Does Multi-ratio CT polarity matter?

Would someone _kindly_ educate me if MR CT polarity matters in protective relay schemes?

I am often told "polarity doesn't matter" because I was taught always to place the high side toward the source. Seems like MR would require source-high side placement to get the proper turns.

Doesn't matter if it's multi ratio or not . Polarity is very important especially with certain types of relay schemes , such as differential relaying .

But in other applications such as non-directional overcurrent relays, polarity doesn't matter, MR or not.

Thanks for the replies.

I should have clarified and said sans 87 and WH meter.

And I now understand. The lines of flux emitted from the cable induce accordingly through the number of turns selected. Bah.
