I'm working on a project overseas that requires an all conduit installation. My electrical sub installed 4 11/16 junction boxes for all the comms devices and piped them in using 1 1/4" EMT. The 1 1/4" EMT forced the junction boxes to be mounted further back on the studs to accommodate the drywall, and unfortunately the sub used 1/4" mudrings, leaving a 3/4" - 1" gap between the front of the mudring and the front face of the drywall. So, does 314.20 apply to communication wiring? Should plastic box extenders be used to close the gap?
