I have overhead doors that are controlled by a 24 volt 3 button operator station inside each door. I want to add a remote to them. Does anybody have a recommendation for ones that work well and are fairly secure? I'd really like if they could work reliably from about 300 feet

Come to think of it, if you have a three button operator, do you have to hold the button down for the door to operate? If so, it does not have a safety edge or photo eye, so you cannot use a remote operator that is not within site of the door.

My Chamberlain opener stopped recognizing my remote, it needed a new board that was $180. So for $30 I bought an internet enabled switch and wired it in parallel with the button in the garage. I can open my door with an app now from the other side of the world (if I wanted to). The bonus is that it has an input that I wired to a magnetic switch on the door, so the app can show me if the door is open or closed. Comes in handy when I wake up in the middle of the night wondering if I remembered to shut it (which has happened).

This is the one I bought, 4 years ago.

This sounds like a commercial door. The ones I’ve seen have open, close, and stop buttons. You don’t have to hold them. Pressing Open or Close will cause the door to fully open or close unless you press Stop (in case you don’t want the door to go full travel). The level of safety provisions can vary by age.

Yeah, I’ve seen them both ways. If it doesn’t have the safety’s, then the user is required to hold the close button, but not the open.

Yeah they are commercial doors two 12' x 14' and two 12' x 12'. 3 button operators inside. You don't have to hold the buttons, no anti-crush safety devices. I guess they are like 20 years old. Some door company installed them before I bought the place

These are the ones I use. I have three doors with a reciver on each, remotes are availible that have a selector switch for selecting one of the three doors Range is pretty good with the small whip anyenna, which can be exported oiside with a coax extension if you have a metal skinned building. Frequency is programmed with dip switches in the receivers and remotes. They hve been in use for 20 years with no hiccups. Order the 3 door transmitters separately or single door remotes if that is what you need. Have a look at the manual.
