This week there have been two rings of the doorbell. One was an offer to pave the driveway, the other is to paint the house. Are people that desparate for work these days?

No electricians or plumbers have stopped by yet, and when they do, I know things are getting bad.

Hmmmm..

Hmmmm..

They drive around like the ice cream man!

What song do they play as they circle the block? What makes the office managers really get up and look out the window?:D

Gee, I dunno, have you taken a good look at your driveway and siding lately? Your neighbors might be giving referrals. :)

My front porches are sagging badly, have been waiting 3 years to find time to rebuild them. About once a month some contractor or other who just happened to be driving by will stop to ask if I'm hiring....

We get them every spring, and fall they target seniors, the pave jobs are cheap recycles material filled with glass scraps, the driveways look good for 4 or 5 days then they fall apart, and the bell knockers, are long gone into another state.

they also have a painting gang, one step above white wash, they sucker in a good number of seniors looking for a bargin. You can tell who they suckered, the police are there a few days later taking reports.

Can you imagine one of then scam artists, taking a fall and then suing for injuries, no thanks anything with ladders i want to see insurance coverages,

I hired a housepainter who just rung the bell. He did a nice job, for not so much money. I don't think he made much on my job. Perhaps that's why he was in a position where he had to go door to door?

LOL. Well, the paint is peeling pretty bad, but vinyl is going to be the next step hopefully.

And the driveway, well, let's just say it needs some work. ;)

Had a window guy stop by and I just happened to be looking for windows. Said his boss lived in the neighbor hood and was offering a special to his neighbors if he could put a sign in the yard, yadda yadda yadda. Bid price came out to somewhere in the neighborhood of $14,000.00. I replaced them all my self for less than $4,000.00.

I had a truck stop and some kid gets out selling meat, He must have had extra from his deliveries or something  , but I just said no thanks...
I get those all the time, did they have a pickup with a house type freezer on the back? It is real tough, cheapy meat. Needed a chainsaw to cut the ribeyes! No, I didn't buy any, my X wife did! Thats one of the reasons she is my X wife! LOL

I've seen some badly rusted service equipment and old looking SE cables on houses that has really tempted me to stop and offer my services.
