Where in the code (250) does it require bonding/grounding connections to be drilled and tapped? Also where is indicated in (250) that a ground screw must be green?

It is my understanding that a ground screw cannot be a sheetmetal screw It however can be a sheetrock screw as far as I know.

(5) Machine screw-type fasteners that engage not less than two threads or are secured with a nut
(6) Thread-forming machine screws that engage not less than two threads in the enclosure

250.8.....if 2008 (changes this cycle) Lists the permitted methods.

No mention of green......Myth?

10-32 macine screw for me. The green screws you buy will be a 10-32

I drill and tap the hole with a combo drill tap bit.

The only 'ground screw' that is NEC required to be green is the grounding screw on a wiring device like a switch, receptacle, cord cap etc.

See 250.126 for that requirement.

There is no requirement that the screw used to attach an EGC to an enclosure be green.

I keep 10/32 GND screws in my brief case, always come in handy for that missing dead front cover screw. The hex head works great and perfect length.

The only other place besides the "only place" as quoted above is 250.28 (B), but that isn't for "ground screws" , it is the main bonding jumper screw requirement if screw is used for that.

Whatever you decide to use, don't 'run em home' with a power tool!

Best Wishes Everyone
