i noticed when i was just in dallas that they put the drip loop above the poa but put a drip loop just before it enters the w/h. any body know how to make a goose neck?

Re: drip loop

Brad that is funnier than H--l :D When We do an over head We always turn the face of our WH 180 degrees from drop. Creates a "Goose neck" and is easier to form a drip loop and make up our "Burndy" crimps at POA.

Re: drip loop

If you are using a weatherhead you are not making a gooseneck.
A gooseneck is made with se cable that is looped over into a candy cane shape so that no weatherhead is required.

I think.

The purpose of the gooseneck is to direct water away and by sealing the exit point from the jacket to make the jacket raintight, but wouldn't creating the gooseneck from a weatherhead, where the conductors are seperated internally then fed through the weatherhead holes, be an invitation for water to enter the jacket or raceway,(EDIT): unless the weatherhead is sealed also?

Re: drip loop

Robert thats just what We call it. The SE exits the face of the weather head (face is away from the direction of drop) forming upward to bare neutral and to mast bracket.
