most prefer it at about 3ft so they dont see it.
Jim, the local differences are interesting. The most common placement, in my experience, is 4', just over the top of the machine. The exception being the finely appointed laundry room in more expensive "designer" settings where the plug is desired out of sight.

Same here Al. It's what I'm used to seeing, and decorating concerns aside I always felt it should be readily accessible.

I do see many at the 4ft height but it really is ugly to see.No real good reason to have it insite.
GC down here get very picky over things like this.Almost none will go for a panel in a hall or bedroom.And even had one that wouldn't let me put a panel in the laundry room.On houses other than track homes i try to walk everything room by room for location and height.Saves problems
