Woman complained that she recieved a shock from her dryer. She bought the dryer used, and a 3 wire cord put on it to comply with the house outlet. I looked in the dryer and the bonding jumper was removed. I reconnected the bonding jumper and tested it, and it seemed ok.

What would cause the shock? Induced voltage??? Static charge from clothes in tumbler? Any thoughts??

static shock is one of most common shock ya get from dryer.

sure it did happend to me even thru the dryer circuit wiring is A1+.

some cothes are senvtive to get a static charge and get ya. I useally reduce the amout of static shock useing a dryer sheet like Bounce or other to reduce it or elemated it.

but if the customer still complaining about the shock check the repectale to make sure it is grounded properly.

Merci, Marc

Right here.
I wonder if the jumper was put back in if they put a 3-wire cord on it?

In any event, I've seen 3-wire dryers spark if they are running and touch the washing machine. If the neutral, which is bonded to the chassis of the dryer, finds just an easy of a path back to the panel as it is getting with the actual neutral conductor, some current will flow. Particularly if its real neutral connection is marginal by some means.

Was on a service call to a new apartment 2nd floor of a 2 story building for drier sparking.1st tenants in this apartment.More info when I got there that drier trouble was when they were hooking up exhaust hose. It had a metal duct ran in wall with a stub out for hose which was 110V. Was due to apartment underneath, their driers 4W cord had been wired wrong at terminal block, hot and ground crossed. Lucky nobody hurt.bh.
