Dryfall ceiling finish

I’m currently working on a residential basement renovation.

The ceiling ( joist space) is going to have dryfall finish applied.

Is it allowable to spray the recessed can housings?

What about the NM cable as well?

Thanks

I can't see if being an issue if they are using a water based paint.

So they want to see all the wiring and other mechanical systems as part of the finish?

How are you protecting the NM cable?

The OP said Dryfall which is paint that drys quickly. It generally used on very high ceilings so minimal protection of the area below is needed. The paint drys as it falls so its basically dust that can be swept up.

Not sure why this would ever be used on a dwelling basement ceiling.
Dryfall! Ok. This is new to me. Thank you, sir!

I did post about something similar, but it was over 10 years ago. I had a situation where the HO wanted an open basement ceiling, but all painted flat black (common in restaurants). GC got a new airless sprayer and was super excited to play with it, so he painted the ceiling with water-based before I finished roping the basement. He came back later with spray-can black (much VOC's) to paint the new Romex. Color did not match the earlier water based, but worse was that it softened the sheathing on the Romex to a sticky goo.
