Yes I work and inspect over head cranes and I hear several comments and rules or requirements on dual collectors on conductor bars used to energized the crane. I see its mention in using magnets and also mention if there is a inverter or vfd used, but not clearly in the NEC. It is in the CMAA specifications 70 & 74 required. 5.14.7 a minimum of 2 collectors each runway conductor shall.
Please share or possibly clarify

2nd collector question

2nd collector question

3 phase. If you have 2 awg. wire feeding a runway conductor bar and two shoes on each collector on each conductor bar can you split the wire size from each shoe then back to 2 awg to disconnect. or does it have to maintain same size wire all the way to disconnect ?

What make are the collectors and down shop conductors? Most manufacturer supply the collectors with the leads connected and it’s quite common for tandem collectors to have what appears to be under sized leads.

Crane manufacturers are a law unto themselves

I'll have to look they are 100A conductor bars with welding wire type pig tails on collectors. There is a 200A service And the system is pulling 170A. We ran 2/0 wire to top disconnect on Crane but dual collectors wires are smaller. I will clearified this today if I get back on job site
