Hey guys

Hope you're all well. I found this forum a while back through google and finally have something to ask and contribute.

So I am trying to build a new house in Charlotte NC and the lot has a disused light pole on my yard. It's dead, has nothing attached to it anymore and was scheduled to be removed by me a few weeks from now. I need to get temporary power installed and asked if I could just use the pole we're about to take down and Duke won't allow me to use it for temporary power and want me to install a new pole for some unknown reason. Does this make sense or am I just using a particularly unhelpful person in Duke?

The other question I have is regarding OSHA regulations and being 10 foot radius away from it. Duke requires the finished building to be 7.5 ft away from the overhead powerline running parallel to my property boundary line but I don't see how I can build it 7.5 ft from the powerline if I can't be within 10ft of the powerline when building it. Is there any way around this? Can the powerline be temporarily insulated, covered, protected etc to allow me to build all the way up to the 10ft radial distance required from OSHA or am I doomed to pull in the property footprint another 5 foot?

Thanks!
