What are the reasons you don't get a job you bid on?Too much, didn't like your long hair, your B.O,some one lowballing every job you bid on?

LOL the only dumb question is the unasked one... :)

I usually don't bid too high, I do have long hair, hope I don't have BO, but I usually find out that yes, lowballing seems to be the most common reason I lose out on a bid.

But I just smile and move on, as a few times those who turn me down for the lowballer call me to fix all the "foul-ups."

Y'all get what you pay for...

Usually the lowest price gets the job. Sometimes contractors will have you bid something so they can compare prices against the contractor that they use. They may use your price as leverage to bring their steady contractors price down and give them the job anyway.

Yep. Around here we call it bid shopping. Usually it's just to make sure their regular contractor is in the ball park. I've fallen prey to it a couple times. P's me off but I guess I don't blame them.

Im starting to think its because I plan on doing it right or plan for the future when its a new construction thing.

I cannot just do the minumum, wether its a small job, large job, or repair. I go to fix one thing and find all the other issues. I always give the price to repair the issues causing or contributing to what I am there for, even though someone else may just do the one item and run. I want to fix the issues and not just put a band aid on it.

I also think I loose jobs because I forget to price according to Graiglist or Wal-mart. People will spend 300.00 on a light and complain about a hundred bucks to install it.

Lowest price doesn't always get the job, however. Many builders get 5-8 bids, and throw out the highest and the lowest right away.
