It can be a little different. Is there a single service to the building, with separate feeders to each half of the duplex? If so, then the load calculation for each half is just like any other single family dwelling, as Bryan said.
But when you calculate the service, you get to take all of the loads for both halves into account, when you do the demand factors. For example, if each half has three appliances that are fastened in place, you cannot use the 75% factor of 220.53 for the unit's feeder. But the service will have a total of six appliances that are fastened in place, and you can use the 75% factor in the service calculation.
