Duplex just mean (2) outlets and a duplex can be a decorator or duplex means the style like this pic and IS different than a decorator?

Decora is a brand name made by Leviton. It's just the rectangular style of device but the term Decora is often used to describe a rectangular receptacle.

No a duplex is two receptacles on one yoke. What you've shown in post #1 is a standard duplex from a design that's been around over 100 years. A Decora (brand name) is a more modern type of duplex that is rectangular and made by Leviton.

Decora is Leviton's trademark (I think) for a rectangular device. Rectangular receptacles are made as duplex and, I THINK, singles. Rectangular devices are also make as single & duplex switches. Most, if not all, GFCI receptacles are rectangular. @Alwayslearningelec , can you explain what you really want to know?

Another manufacturer calls them "Style Line" because "Decora" is a trademark of Leviton. However, like "Band Aid", "Decora" has become the name used to describe the line of devices.

Had to educate suppliers multiple times on this.

Simplex is a O
Duplex is a 8
Triplex (despard) is 3 stacked.
Quad is available as a 4square mounted device but is basically just 2 gang standard double duplex

I'm having customers desiring the look of the deco, it gives them a more standardized appearance having the receptacles, switches, and GFCI receptacles all the same shape.
It also allows me to just get a number of covers based on just openings not determining how many GFCIs, Switches, and receptacles, only how many each 1,2,3 gangs.

Anyone using these new Decora style lever lock switches and receptacles by Leviton? They do seem to cut down installation time. The connections seem solid, can't pull them out. Any reported complications or failures?

More modern means it is a design that has only been around for 50 years.

Now 100 years ago there were no grounded receptacles of that style.... Just duplex receptacle with parallel blades (or combo parallel and tandem, as Harvey called them "T-Slot" in 1916)... The style of duplex shown in the first photo is maybe only 70 years old.

The opening shape is called a double-D. You can even buy KO punches.
So, how often have you ordered double-D receptacles from your supply house?

I have actually sold the punches for them.

I would agree that 'standard' is probably the most common term.
