Dwelling load calculation

Trying to do load calc on a 2600 sq ft home with partial finished basement. Got the 2014 code in front of me, just looking for the best place to start. Thanks again

So the 3 va/sqft is for lighting only? Count receptacles x 180va each?

Just curious, but 220.14(J) 1-3 says no additional load calculations are necessary. Includes general use recepts, outdoor, garage, basement recepts, or lighting outlets.

So all I really need to account for is my laundry and kitchen small appliance loads, dryer, range, etc?

The 3 VA/sqft is for general lighting AND general receptacle outlets. The only other receptacle outlets you generally have to add in separately are the laundry and small appliance circuits at 1500 VA each. If you have the NEC handbook, it has some examples in the back. I would recommend looking over some worked out examples f you are starting out. If you are like me, reading through and interpreting 220 for the first time is like wading through waist high molasses in January.

You also need to include the circuits for specific loads if you have them -- stove/range, clothes dryer, HVAC, and fastened-in-place items such as water heater, dish washer, garbage disposal, any built in microwave ovens, well pump, septic pump, etc.

There are two different dwelling calculations, the Standard and Optional. The Optional has always come in lower for me than the standard.
