Hi Guys,
I have a question about the kitchen area in the dwelling units. Do we need to have a receptacle within 6 ft from each end of the kitchen counter? Is there is a code for that? A designer told me you need to have a receptacle 6 ft from each end of the kitchen area.
Would you please look at the image with the circle receptacle and give me your thoughts and please provide a code section with your answer.
Thank you

Absolutely. The end of the counter begins the wall space, just as a door or fireplace would.

Not sure what you mean. Where a counter ends, and regular wall space starts, the 6-12-12-6 rule applies.

To both ends of the part of a counter along a wall, and to both ends of a wall space, as in any other room.
I appreciate your answer. I know this rule applies to the living rooms and bedrooms for dwelling units. but in this case, the south side of the kitchen counter looks like a foyer, and I already show receptacle on the other wall. Is it still required to provide a receptacle on the south side of the kitchen counter?

Every wall that's not occupied by cabinets has to conform to the rule

210.52(I) Foyers.
Foyers that are not part of a hallway in accordance with 210.52(H) and that have an area that is greater than 60 ft2 shall have a receptacle(s) located in each wall space 3 ft or more in width. Doorways, door-side windows that extend to the floor, and similar openings shall not be considered wall space.

I believe what is being said is that once you are not on the counter then the wall space in a kitchen must follow the same rules as receptacle placements in the other rooms. ie, 6' from doors or break in wall space and then every 12' so that no point on a wall is more than 6' from a receptacle
