Dynamic Disturbance Recording (DDR)

Hello,

I am working on a projects where there is a requirement for disturbance recording. I am trying to understand all of the functions this equipment provides. I understand transient recording, but was not able to understand the mechanism of slow scan recording typically used for power swings? Can someone explains to me the basics or guide me to a good reference.
