Thats true,
I really don't know the answers to those questions.
At this point I just need to know if the code around 1990 required seperating the grounds and neutrals in a residential generator panel...
Is the generator frame bonded to the neutral at the gen set?Thats true,

It was not installed to code. In 1990 all sub panels had to have the grounds and neutrals separated. Generator panels were not a separate section or mention in the NEC really at the time. These were just classified as sub panels.
But this is just from personal remembering. I don't have a copy of my old code books from way back when.

I have a 1990 NEC in my lap. 250-6 addresses portable and vehicle mounted generators. Article 445 is Generators and they must comply with 250 and 230 (among others). 250-23(a) states a grounding connection shall not be made to any grounded circuit conductor on the load side of the service disconnecting means.
Thank you very much!
I didn't want to buy a 1990 code book just to look up this question!
Very much appreciate it!![]()
So I was still right about them needing to be separated
