Eaton and GE, 120 volts self extinguish

Just because a 208/120 arcing fault is likely to self extinguish does not mean it will do so before it initiates a fire... but point well taken.

Bring it up during the PI stage of the 2020 code cycle... :happyyes:

I will find someone to use this in a proposal. Doubt it will change anything, but the more the merrier.

The AFCI is a false electrical product. I am 100% convinced of that based on past evidence. That being said, I welcome anything and everything that continues to disprove this lie that has been forced upon us.

The Network Protector does not seem to apply to 210.12.

It is usually a utility owned product that is bolted to the utility transformer. They protect against power flowing out of the network ( building ) & back feeding the transformer if it is de-energized upstream, 32 function. They will also automatically close if power will flow into the network.

They are usually installed in underground vaults, but do not have to be.

Any one that has had to do service/repairs to 480/277 systems could tell you long before AFCI came about that you were much more likely to see an arc at 277 volts start a fire or come close to starting one yet same scenario with 120 volts would very rarely have come close to similar result.

I agree, everyone knows it. In fact so did the CMPs when they required GFP on 1000amp or larger 277 volt services. (And yes, for those code buffs its when exceeding 150 volts to ground, I know that :p)
