I am installing an Eaton 20 circuit sub panel with the generator interlock kit. The kit is fine, it comes with a plastic insert clip that snaps into the panel. A long screw goes through a hole in the middle of the 125 amp main breaker and with a long screw (provided) screws into the plastic clip to retain the main bkr. The clip is also made so that the 30 amp two pole generator back feed bkr which installs next to the main also came with a screw to retain that breaker. Problem is I have not seen a 30 amp 2 pole BR breaker with a hole in it. The breakers I have seen it seems like the 50s and up have a hole in them and the smaller breakers do not ?????

I have the spec sheet on the panel that lists accessories and they only show the screw type retainer but that won't work with the new 30a BR breaker I bought with no hole in it. Supply house has no clue.

Also, the main panel has no spare lug large enough for the #1 copper on the neutral bar. I have it cobbed on for now but I am NOT leaving it that way. I have two choices. Bare neutral coming in from the meter socket I can put a split bolt on it if I have too.

The panel has two spare lugs......don't know how to describe them but I would call them two piece lay in lugs I have seen them before and I am sure all of you have. The bottom is attached to the neutral bar and turns up 90 deg on one side. The top piece with the set screw is also 90 deg and snaps in /fits in to the bottom half with a couple of notches. If the set screw is not tight the top can be taken off. Anyhow the top half of these lugs are missing, If I had one I wouldn't have to use a split bolt.

If there is already a breaker on the generator it doesn't hurt anything to use a 50 amp breaker as the back fed supply breaker in the panel.

The 60A BR has the hole. Smaller ones don't.

I assume this is because they designed it based on the 60A minimum service size in the code. As you are finding, that doesn't make the most sense.
