Just hoping for some clarification regarding Siemens panels and Eaton breaker interchangeability. I've been researching what breakers are interchangeable with a Siemens panel and some sources say that a UL listed Eaton breaker is compatible, but another source says that the Eaton breaker must be the CL series to be compatible and code compliant. Far as I know all Eaton breakers are UL listed. Thanks

They are, but the listed ones are only listed for use in Eaton panels. The type CL breakers are listed breakers that have been classified for use in other OEM panels.

There is a Catch 22. If you look at the fine print on the chart provided in the link in Post 4 you will se it advises you to check the capability chart included with the breaker.
The CL's are not a "one size fits all". To meet UL, the panel must be included in the capability chart.
(when you see that chart is gives a whole new meaning to fine print :) )

“CL” is the Eaton breaker series number, not a “listing” like UL. Eaton makes two breakers that appear to be identical; the BR series and the CL series. The BR series are ONLY listed to be used in Eaton BR series panels and their predecessor, Bryant /Westinghouse panels. The Eaton CL series look exactly the same but are “Classified” by UL to retrofit into SOME panels made by competitors, such as Siemens. The panel part numbers are SPECIFIC and must be verified in the Eaton documentation to be allowed to use the CL breakers in them. .
