ebay account hacked

this is so unrelated, but I thought I should post it.

FYI - my ebay account was hacked yesterday. I'm careful, have good passwords, don't go to porn sites etc. But yesterday evening I could not log in, and then I found out that a bunch of ebay users info (1200 or so) was posted online by a hacker.

Ebay froze my account late today (fortunately), and I was able to reset password, but I closed the account since I don't know how it got hacked. I found a bunch of emails where someone tried to scam other people with my account (I used paypal, and fortunately it doesn't appear that they were able to purchase anything)

I've used my account a lot over the last couple years to buy lots of stuff, from tools to books to some fairly big items, so I thought I should post just to warn others to check their accounts if they have them (and strenghthen their passwords etc)

Sounds like you've got a keystroke-logging virus.

Is your firewall and anti-virus software up-to-date, and do you run scans on a regular basis?

I know what it sounds like, but -

no viruses, everythings up to date, laptops 2 mos old, got vista, norton 360

someone told me that ebay was hacked yesterday and they got a bunch of user info, its the only thing that makes sense (I haven't been to any strange web sites or anything)

Hey Nakulak, I don't know if you have this, but I use Identity guard. Its less than $15 month. Monitors you're credit. It's gives me a little piece of mind. sorry about the ebay thing
