These are about what I expected so far, but I am suprised that with web domains so cheap and easy to run that more EC's don't have them. Great way to show off your work. How can you work without emails? Do you scan and fax orders and other business paperwork?

Yes, we have a website that covers all of our divisions, we have email addresses for all personel in offices located in two states, for some field superintendants, and even a few for foremen depending on the size of the project.

I don't know how anyone could work without E-mail. I keep the laptop in the truck at all times and check E-mail several times a day. I'm sitting in the truck right now.

We have both. I have e-mail sent to my phone as well. A website goes along ways when trying to get in with a new GC. You can show off some of your work. Obviously the loadcenters that one of the guys installed upside down doesn't make the final cut. Just couldn't figure out why the door had to be installed upside down.

We've been very fortunate. A Web site has not been necessary as we have
a very good rep for large Pharmaceutical electrical system installs and
knowledgeable service techs. How any company makes it without E-mail
is a complete mystery to me.

Website space can be only $10 a month - I really don't know why everyone does not at the very least have a domain. For just $10, you can get nearly unlimited space, and email accounts. You can even get silly with it, and FTP plans, spec's to each project folder, so that info is ready for anyone who needs it. Great way just to organize information. Create an email time card that people can just text in time card info from thier phones. Create email accounts for each job, anything on that job can gets automaticaly sent to that email account (using auto-copy/forward from the client name or address) and you can do that without even an index or HTM/L pages.... (i.e. no direct advertising.) But having a simple index page with contact info is best, nothing fancy - some clients think your either a dinosaur, or low-ball jake-snakey if you don't have a website.... It's like not having a phone in the eyes of some...

Getting search status and hits from it can take some time and money, but it too is not all that hard to do. Then again, much of the work from web searches may not be what you want either....

We don't even put our Telephone number on our trucks. Yet, we still get calls
for bids to install attic fans in homes, etc, even though we repeatedly tell
them we are a commercial/Industrial company.:)

Not to mention suppliers, I get very learly of establishing a credit account with a company without a website and email. A phone # and residential address to me means you may not be thee when the invoice arrives.

I just bought a web hosting for 1 year for 41 bucks , it includes unlimited web space , unlimited band width , unlimited emails, and free domain name , this normally costs about $75 a year , if you pm I can show you a trick to get it for 1/2 price.I also did a decent company web site in one night (I know web programming languages tho), but it's easy, I use macromedia dreamweaver.
