ECM motor overcurrent protection

I've looked but can't find a good answer. Do ECM motors require overcurrent at 250% per NEC? I don't believe they have much inrush, but don't think the Code recognizes this.

if the code does not give special rules for them, than they follow the same rules as normal motors do.

an ecm motor at startup is a lot like a motor with a soft start on it, so there will be a lot less inrush.
