What effect will increased voltage have on Metal Hallide and High Pressure Sodium lighting that are operating from ballasts.

For instance we have recently decided to increase taps on our transformer to slightly increase voltage and were wondering what longterm effects this would have on this type of lighting? Would the ballasts try to self regulate and account for this voltage increase?

Besides motors and lighting what other effects should be taken into consideration for increased voltage?

The ballasts shouldn't care as long as you stay in their voltage range. They will regulate the outupt, so the input current should drop a little.
