I know the humor and behavior is going south on r/electrician, however bear in mind I have no control over that.
 
So what's the problem? Compression fittings would not be any better. This topic has been beat to death here and should be treated like ground up ground down threads.

The silicone isn't a conductor in my view.

This should be PVC, or simply not caulked at all.
 
The set screw is the conductor in this case.
