I am running triplex from pole to pole as feeders to pick up 2 construction trailers. The feeders will be 12ft AFF. I'm trying to reduce the need for renting a lift/working off a ladder.

Are there any techniques for running this from the ground? Is there some sort of support clamp/device that mounts to the temp support posts that we can reach from the ground?

Just seeing if someone's come up with an effective way of doing this to reduce man power/ increase productivity if they can do it from the ground.

Build as much of the hardware on the pole as you can before you stand it up. If you lay it out right, you might just be able to attach your aerial cable to the POAs while on the ground.

But if you try that, and you screw it up.... you're back to working on a ladder or a lift.... or buying pole-climbing equipment.

24' poles with 12' in the ground???? Kind of over-kill, isn't it? I'd say go higher so the sag of the cable is no more than 12' above grade.

Bling, wedge clamps are used to attach the messenger cable to the pole hardware.
This can be done easily from a extension ladder. Triplex will not give you enough conductors, you will need quadraplex (3 insulated and messenger). And if it is 4/0 watch your pole spacings.

Have you looked into going underground with direct burial? You should run the numbers for both. If there is a lay down area / traffic where the overhead is run, it can create real problems for moving materials.

Do yourself a favor and locate the transformers at the trailers. That will reduce the wire size and make hanging it much easier.

We often place a transformer right under the job trailers if 480 is available.
