If Im bonding my transformer at the panel do I need to run a EGC with my phase conductors from the transformer to the panel? The transformer case is grounded by the EGC coming in with the primary feed. Would that only protect the casing from a line to case fault from the primary source since electricity is always trying to get back to its source or would that take care of a secondary line to case fault also?

Joey, The primary EGC will not open a fault on the secondary side. If your

bonding jumper is in the panel, then you need an EGC back to the transformer

case. How could you bond at the panel and not have an EGC?

Is there a new code in 08 in relation to bonding at the panel instead of at the transformer?

The bond jumper may be at the source or the first system disconnect.
