Is there a proper method or a preferred method for entering a service panel with solid EGC. I am a industrial electrician with not much residential experience I am going to change out my service panel and want to make sure I do it properly.

Those holes are MUCH easier to poke out before you hang the panel.

Is it just me, or is that just a copper tubing clamp with a locknut on it??

I'm sure there's some internal mechanism inside it to make a mechanical/electrical connection to the GEC. But their hype about being the only approved method is horse hockey, IMPO.

Ditto and the fact they try to lead people to believe that you need that product to comply with the NEC is enough to make me not to ever do business with them.

An EGC should never enter the enclosure by itself. It must be run with the associated circuit conductors. I assume that the question is really asking about a GEC (grounding electrode conductor).

I am surprised it took up to #7 response for someone to say something about the term EGC being used and not GEC.

What I remember is some AHJ out east (New Jewsey?) has been convinced (or conned) into requiring them.
