I have an interior substation that has 1200 amps or more and is over 6 feet wide. There are 2 emergency egress doors located in the room. One of the doors leads to an open area in the facility. The other door opens into another room containing other equipment. One of these being an air compressor. One door egresses north and the other egresses south (this is the one that goes into another room). My concern is if you are working on the west side of the equipment and there is an emergency (i.e. an arc flash), there is no way to reach either of these doors. I have been arguing with the facility director that there needs to be an egress on the west side of the area. This would alleviate the need to try to reach the doors on the other side of the equipment. There was a door on the west side, but this was replaced by a manual roll up door. Any suggestions?
