Electrical panels, wiring troughs, conduit, dry-type transformer enclosures show evidence of corrosion build-up. Are there any requirements if we want to clean/remove rust and paint enclosure over? So far I was not able to find anything
I would think painting the out side of it would be fine. I'm not sure about the transformer. On the inside you should use a paint listed for electrical applications. Because obviously some paints are flameable.
There are some good aircraft sealants that can be sprayed on the inside of electrical enclosures and on equipment. They are rated for such use. They do not remove rust or corrosion but put a film over the metal to reduce further such. I think one was called "Corrosion X", or some such.
Thanks for reply
All that equipment is located in building where chlorine is present so I?m proposing to replace all rusted panels, conduit and troughs with NEMA 4X and PVC conduit or replace with NEMA 3R and build electric room.
