Ran into this in a double wide home. 7.7 KW rated cooktop fed with 10/2romex and a 20A DP breaker.Did calculation came up with 32.83A 7700W divided by 240V=32.8A also did it like this 7000.7W divided by 240V=29.16A. What is the correct way to do this calculation?

Check out table 220.19 in 2002 or 220.55 in 2005. 7700 x 80% = 6160 or 26A. If you have more than one cooking unit, the demand factor could be less.

Re: electric cooktop rating

If this double oven is in a new mobile home or manufactured homes it would fall under the listing of the home manufacturer and have no bearing on the work of the service connection.

Should you run into this in a site built house then 210.19 (A) (3) exception no.1 would apply. Also see note 4 of 220.55. Ranges are not hard to figure unless we make them hard.
