The simple answer is 16 amps. That is 80% of 20 amps. But if you are looking at it in terms of power, then 240 volts times 20 amps equals 4800 watts. 80% of that is 3840 watts. That's your limit. You could also get there by simply multiplying 16 amps times 240 volts.

I usually use a combination of 500W and 1KW or 2KW units to wind up at 3500W on a 20A circuit.
