Take a 30 amp breaker from your panel inside, run your hot leg to the metal enclosure of your main outside breaker, and your neutral leg to a grounding rod below the box. Just be sure to cut the breaker inside before you screw with the main breaker.

I am always amazed at the basic stupidity that is out there.

No kidding... everyone knows that this arrangement would immediately trip the 30A breaker (closing into the fault would be fun!)

The box is grounded (well it SHOULD be) You'd need to energize their feet...

This is why alarm systems have a battery backup...

Not seeing the context, could it have simply been a joke?

That just wouldn't work, in so many ways, safety aside. :)

This follows the concerns I have expressed , in the thread I started about homeowners doing work. In many cases, statements like these are not a joke and someone out there will try to do it.

Do I hear another nomination for a Darwin Award?

Not necessarily injure yourself. Just do something stupid to prevent procreation. Yes, most Darwins are awarded posthumously, but some recipients are still among the living.

I dunno ... this may be advanced stupidity.

Lucy Van Pelt once told Charlie Brown ,"The quality of your stupidity is rising."

I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
